The total distance of this walk is 7 km. It spans the three trails around the Stoney Swamp area: the Jack Pine trail (Trail 26), the Lime Kiln trail (Trail 25) and the Chipmunk/Beaver trail (Trail 28). Difficulty - Level 2 - Typical easy hike for a healthy hiker, but with some incline, or more than 5 km. Risk of tripping. 5. Description Stony Swamp, located 15 km south of Ottawa between Nepean and Kanata, features a network of beaver ponds, wetlands and forests, and is the most ecologically diverse protected area in the Ottawa Valley. There are 40 km of trails. It’s a mix of nature trails, cycling trails, and trails that are easy-to-moderate trail running.
