Meeting Place: 2024-06-30 at 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Location: Rock Dunder Hiking Trail - Stanley Lash Ln · Lyndhurst, ON
How to find us: Meet at the information board at the start of trail (higher lot)
Note: Please purchase the day pass at the gate.
This is a Level 4 hike. One has to traverse through rocks and hike at an elevation. We will go through the Blue loop (Summit Loop) to the point where it meets the Green loop (Scout Cabin Trail). We will hike to the Cabin before walking back to where the trail meets the Morton Bay loop, and then return to the parking lot. My estimates for this trail is 2.5 - 3 hr and 6 km.
The hiker day pass is $6 per hiker. Please bring credit card or cash and pay it at the gate. If you have purchased a pass previously please keep the receipt. I will explain to the people at the gate about our hike that needs to be rescheduled.
This is a long drive from Ottawa to Lyndhurst so please budget your time accordingly. I may not be able to respond once I'm at the site depending on site reception. Please plan to arrive at the site prior to the start time.
We will begin with an introduction and welcome exercise, and then we will relax and enjoy our time in nature. Bring water, bug spray and some light snack with you, but make sure you pack light!
Notes:
1. No dogs or pets.
2. There are two levels of parking lot. We will be meeting at the one that is the nearest to the trailhead.
3. Facility is available at the trail head.
4. If photos of others are taken make sure that you acquired their permissions before posting them on this page.

8. Description
Rock Dunder is a treasure that lies within the UNESCO Thousand Islands Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve. Rising 275 feet above Morton Bay, Rock Dunder provides breathtaking views of the surrounding lakes and woodlands. Trails lead to one of the highest points of land in the area, and offer stunning vistas that are enjoyed seasonally by local residents and visitors to the area. For many, childhood memories of hiking trips to Rock Dunder remain fresh in their minds.
Born in fire over a billion years ago deep in the roots of an ancient mountain range, Rock Dunder is part of a large igneous feature termed the Lyndhurst granite. Wind, water, and the ice of retreating glacial ice sheets sculpted this hard pink granite into its present shape.
